The key has the proper motion and seems all is well but the engine will not start when the key is turned to the start position
JA: Can you turn the steering wheel at all? And what about the key? Is it worn or damaged?
Customer: Yes key tumbler works in all positions except start
JA: What is the model/year of your Buick?
Customer: 1999 lesabre custom
JA: Are you fixing your LeSabre yourself? What have you tried so far?
Customer: Yes I was thinking it may be the switch so I have started to remove the steering column but I don't know how to get to the switch
JA: Anything else you want the mechanic to know before I connect you?

First you need to make sure there is power going to the small purple wire on the starter. This wire comes from the ignition switch and is what triggers the starter to work. Its kinda hard to get to but is a MUST before replacing any parts.

Do you have a volt meter to do this?
