Hello, Can I ask how you are confirming power to starter? and what are you jumping at the bendix? what post to what post and lastly, does everything else still work like inside lights, headights, wipers, blower and so on

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
i took a wire lead and ground one end
touched both positive and negitive bolts
and the light on the lead light up.
at the bendix
all power works
12.5 plus volts and battery and starter
Expert:  Tracer replied 11 months ago.

ok so you have the big wire from the battery going to the starter bendix, then you have a small wire at the bendix, Did you jumper the big red wire to the small on? I think a purple wire at the bendix/solenoid?

also, what engine?

Customer: replied 11 months ago.
i just had a one of those wires that look like a screwdrive with a light in it.
you ground one end the touch the wire by the starter and it lit up.
i could not get the jumper wire with the starter button on the starter

ok, I am trying to understand what you jumped and starter did not work, You said you jumped the starter bendix,You said you took a screwdriver to the starter. I am trying to understand what posts you jumped exactly, I can not help unless you send all the detailed information best you can, Thanks

Hello and welcome to JustAnswer!

If you jumped the starter and it did not engage then you have a bad starter, poor positive feed to it or a poor engine ground. Jumping the starter means applying power to the solenoid driver terminal. If it wouldn't crank when applying power to the solenoid terminal using a screwdriver or jumper wire then the starter positive cable and engine ground need to be voltage drop tested, and if ok yet the engine will not crank and is able to be turned by hand, then the starter will need to be replaced.
