Customer Question

Hello Pete I have a 1995 buick regal custom and it won't crank at all. Just replaced the battery still won't start. Everything else works fine but battery, brake, and engine check light on.

I am sorry for the long wait

is the theft/security light on or blinking when you try to crank it over ?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
It comes on initially but turn off after the start-up phase
Expert:  Gary replied 2 years ago.

if you check the purple wire at the starter will that wire show 12 volts at it when holding the key to crank ?

also if you put the key to the ON position and jump the small purple wire stud at the starter solenoid to the big power wire stud on the starter solenoid will the starter crank the engine over and will it start up or just crank over ?

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
not sure I'll have to go take a look

Expert:  Gary replied 2 years ago.

here is the starter location

are you sure the battery is good and both battery cables are clean and tight ?

front of the engine lower as seen in the picture

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Yeah I got a new interstate battery yesterday and tightened it up
Expert:  Gary replied 2 years ago.

ok just be sure

see if you can do those tests

Customer: replied 2 years ago.
I don't see a purple wire that would be connected to the starter
Expert:  Gary replied 2 years ago.

there should be only one small wire at the starter solenoid
