Probably is usually caused by dimmer/multifunction switch. When problem is happening Check for voltage at the connector at the base of the steering column at pin A2, a Dark Blue wire. If present using a suitable jumper, short the Dark Blue wire to ground. The low beam lights should illuminate. If the low beam lamps illuminate, locate and ground the Yellow wire at pin A3. Switch between high and low beam on the dimmer switch. If the lights do not illuminate, replace the dimmer switch.

are you talking about the harness by the headligh switch/dimmer switch in the door jam?
A1 is black and white no A3

Ok, it sounds like you have a seperate problem causing switches to fail....I'd start by making sure headlights have correct bulbs installed and if problem is still there check for any of the wires to be shorted to ground.
