Buick Century my 1995 Buick Century speedometer doesnt work

Resolved Question:

my 1995 Buick Century speedometer doesn't work and the transmission won't shift till you wind it out at the very beginning when you drive it. As long as you leave it running it will shift fine but if you turn the key off and restart it you have to do it all over again.

Is the check engine light on?
Customer: replied 6 years ago.
It comes on when the transmission finally shifts out. and will stay on until you turn the key off. Then everything resets and you have to go through the whole process all over again.

With the speedometer not working and the transmission not shifting properly, this leads me to believe the problem is in the vehicle speed sensor. The vehicle speed sensor is located on the transmission, near where the right side axle exits the transmission.
