YES JUST THE TIRE IS OFF AND THE DUSTCOVER ON THE CAR BODY IS ALL. I AM WAITING TO FIND OUT WHAT HAS TO COME OFF ON THE ENGINE ITSELF.

ok make sure you print this out because the pictures time out quickly.ok first procedure is to remove the cover..second procedure is to change the chain!

  • Disconnect battery ground cable and drain engine coolant.
  • Remove serpentine drive belt.
  • Disconnect hearer pipes, lower radiator hose and coolant bypass hose.
  • Raise and support vehicle.
  • Remove right front wheel and tire assembly, then the inner fender splash shield.
  • Remove balancer bolt and balancer.
  • Disconnect electrical connectors at camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor and oil switch.
  • Remove oil pan to front cover bolts.
  • Remove cover attaching bolts and the cover.

    1. Front cover. Refer to Timing Cover . See: Timing Cover\Service and Repair
    2. Align timing marks on sprockets so that they are as close together.
    3. Timing chain damper.
    4. Camshaft sprocket bolt.
    5. Camshaft sprocket and chain.
    6. Crankshaft sprocket.

    Clean

    • Timing chain
    • Sprockets
    1. Inspect all components for wear and/or damage.

    Timing Balance Shaft And Camshaft Marks


    NOTE: If the pistons have not been moved in the engine, go to Step 3, otherwise Step 1.

    If the balance shaft timing has been disturbed alignment is necessary before proceeding.

    1. Turn crankshaft so that number one piston is at top dead center.
    2. Turn camshaft so that with sprocket temporarily installed, timing mark is straight down.
    3. Assemble timing chain on sprockets with timing marks in their closest together position.
    4. Timing chain and sprocket.
    5. Camshaft sprocket bolt.
      • Tighten to 37 Nm (27 lbs. ft.) .
    1. Camshaft thrust button and spring.
    2. Timing chain damper.
    3. Front cover.
