2001 buick lesabre custom: 40 mph..shuts off with no warning..coasting

Customer Question

My 2001 buick lesabre custom has died five times while i was driving in the past week. I'll be going 40 mph or slower and it just shuts off with no warning. I'll be driving the next thing i know i'm coasting down the road with no power. It will start right up after i stop and put the car in park. I have no idea what's going on.

John :

Hello & Welcome to JA,

John :

This 9intermitten) problem can be hard to track down.i have found faulty crankshaft sensors on these engines ,many times. The fault does dot occur long enough for the computer to set a failure code usually.Replace the crankshaft sensor.

John :

(intermitten) , sorry for the typo.
