1997 buick: gauge reads..Oil presure..dip stick shows oil level

1997 buick park ave.
Oil gauge
reads 10%. Oil presure normal. But dip stick shows oil level as full . Oil was changed about a month ago.

The 10% reading you are getting is the engine oil life. Most likely the technician that last changed your oil failed to reset this to 100%. To reset this, follow the procedure below.


  1. Turn the ignition to RUN.
  2. Press the TRIP button on the driver information center (DIC) switch to view various menu choices and stop on OIL LIFE REMAINING.
  3. Press and hold the RESET button on the DIC switch for more than 5 seconds. The oil life will change to 100%. The engine oil life monitor is now reset.
  4. Turn the ignition OFF.
