2006 Buick: Im replacing my water pump..V6..removing..power steering

This answer was rated:

I'm replacing my water pump on a 2006 Buick Lucerne (V6). One bolt is blocked from removing due to a fly wheel on the power steering. I cannot easily see how to loosen the power steering so that I can get clearance to remove the water pump bolt. Do you have access to information to help me?

Hello and welcome to Just, Super mechanic here. About your vehicle.

The power steering pulley should have some holes in the front of it to put a socket through and take the bolts out that hold the pump in.

  • Drain the cooling system. Refer to Draining and Filling Cooling System (Static Fill) Draining and Filling Cooling System (Vac-N-Fill).
  • Loosen the water pump pulley bolts.
  • Remove the drive belt.
  • Remove the water pump pulley bolts.
  • Remove the water pump pulley.

Remove the power steering pump bolts and reposition the pump.

  • Remove the water pump bolts.
  • Remove the water pump.
  • Remove the water pump gasket.
  • Clean and inspect the water pump mating surfaces.
  • Reverse procedure to install
