Are you at the boat now?
I am trying to figure out what you mean by the engine being off center. Does it look like it was designed that way? What type of engine?
When an engine aligns to the prop shaft flange that is supposed to be within .005". That is pretty close to no tolerance at all.
How does that sound?

Left side when standing in the boat facing the motor. This coupler spins

Right side when facing the motor standing in the boat - this appearance piece is leaving all the threads exposed
The bolts which mounted the motor to the boat are shifted 1" to the left so it would seem that the motor is pushed to the maximum right to offset the bolt placement?
