Somehow we were disconnected by the system trying to make me pay for a call from you. Annoying. I hope this reconnects us.
Marine Mechanic: Charles, Marine Mechanic replied 7 months ago

Your engines predate the control network that uses the NMEA protocol. You would need at least an engine that is MPI in order the have the correct ECU to use NMEA 2000.

Arghh, I know there is a Noland product and someone else’s that will take analog inputs from the gauges. . I was hoping the exams were J1939 capable

If the ECM is J1939 then it’s a straight integration vs programming analogue gauges inputs into the Noland product
Marine Mechanic: Charles, Marine Mechanic replied 7 months ago

Those two products require a network already in the boat. I still feel that the Noland would be the preferred item.

The boat has a NMEA2000 network. Is there a corresponding J1939 network? With one picture it looked like a simple plug to their bridge
Marine Mechanic: Charles, Marine Mechanic replied 7 months ago

The engine ECU is not compliant with it. As far as computers, the engine one is only smart enough to run the injectors.

Ok. So Noland it is. Thanks!
