I have a 2002 mainship 390. The 110 inside lights and the 110 side of the frig has stopped working. It acts the same whether I am on shore power or generator. I can only find one gfi and it is fine.

The problem persist.

Have you checked the main breaker box for any breakers tripped?

Ask Your Own Boat Question
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
Both sides of all the breakers are hot.
Marine Mechanic: Boat Doc, Boat Enthusiast replied 6 months ago

Okay, since the lights and the fridge should not feed off the same hot lead you may have a bad neutral connection. Have you checked for loose or corroded connections on the neutral buss bar?

Ask Your Own Boat Question
Customer reply replied 6 months ago
I will check that. The marina said that there were two power outages last week while we were gone.
Marine Mechanic: Boat Doc, Boat Enthusiast replied 6 months ago

You may want to check for power right at the fridge. If the power surged down it may have popped the compressor or the inverter, no sense chasing a feed problem if the unit has failed.

I may have to get someone to do that for me. I will get back to you later. Thanks for your help.

I bought a 2002 boat with a freedom 3000 charger/inverter.
I bought a 2002 boat with a freedom 3000 charger/inverter. Everything appears as it should when plugged into shore power. When shore power is disconnected, I lose all AC power. There are two house batteries that are charged when shore power is plugged in but it seems that no AC is produced back through the Inverter/charger when the shore power is disconnected. It is an older unit that was factory installed in the boat. Previous owner (trust?) said the unit was bench tested and worked fine but it does not seem to be working in the boat. The circuit breaker on the front seems to be engaged. What steps should I follow, while it is still in the boat, that can check the inverter/charger function? With shore power disconnected, the unit appears to shut off entirely... Help appreciated! Thanks, Scott … read more
