Changing seals between halves...

Changing seals between halves on a alpha gen 2, how much end play should be on the lower half shaft that mates to the upper, this one seems to have a lot of end play for a 2014 with a 100 hours

Mechanic's Assistant: Sometimes things that you think will be really complicated end up being easy to fix. The Marine Mechanic I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. Is there anything else the Marine Mechanic should be aware of?

Only that I'm doing this because the double oil seals were improperly installed at factory, now I'm wondering about the end play

Hi my name is***** to Just Answer ! I will be assisting you.

Ask Your Own Boat Question

There should only be 0.025" end play. If it was out of spec. I don't think it would have lasted this long. It's not likely that this will be out of spec from factory. It's not uncommon to have to change the drive shaft seal and it's yellow retainer.

Regards,

Matt
