I have a 1987 Sea Ray with a 4.3 ltr chevy I/O pushing it. It's carberated. Had trouble with shifting and fixed that with a new ingition interrupter. Engine stares fairly good when cold. When hot, won't start. Have to wait several minutes...then it starts. Any idea what the problem is?

Mechanic's Assistant: Sometimes things that you think will be really complicated end up being easy to fix. The Marine Mechanic I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. Is there anything else important you think the Marine Mechanic should know?

Don't think so.

Hello. My name is Tan.

Remove coil wire from the top of the coil and hole about 1/2 from coil tower now crank engine do you have spark?

Remove the flame arrestor and check the position of the choke plate. Check it cold engine and check it warm engine.

The plate should be closed when cold and open when warm up to engine temp.

When engine won't crank warm have a friend advance the throttle to wide open engine off. Look down the carb into the intake do you see fuel in the bottom of the intake?

Post back with findings.

Did you have a chance to do those checks?

I don't need a model number to answer this question. It doesn't have anything to do with your issue.
