Customer Question
I have a older...

I have a older Trojan fly bridge and need new water temp gauges top and below. I also need a single sending unit that will work with both.

Mechanic's Assistant: Sometimes things that you think will be really complicated end up being easy to fix. The Marine Mechanic I'm going to connect you with knows all the tricks and shortcuts. Tell me a bit more about what's going on so the Marine Mechanic can help you best.

My gauges work fine but I can't find a sending unit that will operate both. The gauges show 240 degrees with the new sender.

Mechanic's Assistant: Is there anything else the Marine Mechanic should be aware of?

The starboard engine and gauges work fine and I have swapped gauges to the port side and it appears the gauges are fine. They are the old AC Delco gauges. The sending unit is the problem.

It looks like you read my response and left without replying back. Did you still want or need help with this?

It is a 1979 Trojan F32 with twin Chrysler 360 small blocks. Just bought and port temp gauges pegged at full temp. The gauges appear fine because I switched with the starboard gauges. It appears that the port sending unit is not compatible?
I might have to buy new gauges with single sending unit but everyone I go to is no help.
Marine Mechanic: Jason, Marine Mechanic replied 11 months ago

Are the gauges wired correctly? Have you purchased the correct sending unit yet, or do you need a recommendation?

Ask Your Own Boat Question
Customer reply replied 11 months ago
The gauges appear to have the original wiring. The working starboard gauges are fine and the wiring looks the same. The starboard sending unit reads 45 ohms to ground and the port reads 250 ohms to ground. Wrong sending unit? No one has one for me.
Marine Mechanic: Jason, Marine Mechanic replied 11 months ago

Good morning and sorry for the delay. When you replied back last night I had already logged off for the evening. Do you know the physical size of your sending unit? (Diameter and thread size). If not that's okay, I can still point you in the right direction.
