No priming necessary. Just check that the sensor down't leak after you have engine running and warmed up.

After installation of the sending unit the engine ran. After installation of the sensor i cannot get the motor to start?
It is showing no oil pressure on the guage
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
Could it be a faulty new sensor?
Marine Mechanic: Tan, MerCruiser Certified Technician replied 1 year ago

It could be a faulty sensor or a bad gauge.

Is this a 2 wire sensor or single wire sensor?

Ask Your Own Boat Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
single wire sensor
Marine Mechanic: Tan, MerCruiser Certified Technician replied 1 year ago

Ok remove the wire from the sensor and touch the wire to engine ground with key on does the gauge needle move?

Ask Your Own Boat Question
Customer reply replied 1 year ago
no
Marine Mechanic: Tan, MerCruiser Certified Technician replied 1 year ago

Ok check that the gauge has voltage an ground. If you have voltage an ground then locate the sender wire on the back of the gauge and jump a ground to the send terminal with key on does gauge needle move? If you have voltage and ground and the needle doesn't move when you ground the send terminal the gauge is bad replace the gauge.
