Hi
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Just the recap the situation:* Engine was working normally (yanmar 4JH4-HTE, 110hp)
* Then on the next start, the reps would not go up for a minute or so. First time the engine ever did that. Then the reps went on and the engine worked normally.
* on the next start, the engine did not start.
* changed the batteries and the engine started for 30 seconds and then stopped.
* since then the engine refuses to start.
* checked the fuel injection pump and it appears to work. Also bleeded the pump. What else could be wrong ?

Hello my name is ***** ***** am I speaking with? Can you check for power at the fuel stop solenoid with both the key in the RUN position and also the key in the Start position?

Power seems to be ok. The starter gets power and I get a spin
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
But perhaps not enough power in the batteries ?
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Would that simply be the issue ?

Hi Jason
Expert:  Jason replied 4 months ago.

What I'm asking is if there is voltage to the fuel stop solenoid. Do you have a hand held volt meter to measure for voltage at the fuel stop solenoid on the engine?

Customer: replied 4 months ago.
I have a voltmeter
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Where is the fuel stop solenoid ?
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
cannot find in the yanmar book
Expert:  Jason replied 4 months ago.

It's on the injection pump. It will be the only thing on the injection pump that has a wire going to it.

Will go back to the boat and check. Should I see power (i.e. 12v) when the key are on? If not is there a way to start the engine even if the solenoid is not working ?
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Ok, will check and revert. Need to go back to the boat (and have no internet there) so will take a couple of hours. Thanks
Customer: replied 4 months ago.
Will advise thereafter
