We are rebuilding a Yamaha F250 Outboard motor. We replaced

Customer Question

We are rebuilding a Yamaha F250 Outboard motor. We replaced the block and had thee heads machined and a valve replaced. During the breakin we have experienced an excessive oil use. We have burned 5 quarts of oik in the first 7 hours of the break in procedures. We have followed the recommended procedures exactly.
I have read an article that suggested that the Crank Case Ventilation issue and said Yamaha is aware of the problem in 2005 H250 outboards. The article said Yamaha had a kit that could be installed that would correct the problem, Is there a kit to fix this problem?
What other tests would you recommend and what other causes can you suggest?
