I have a Tahoe speed boat with a 190 Mercury inboard engine.

Customer Question

I have a Tahoe speed boat with a 190 Mercury inboard engine. After refilling the tank just now with 87 octane gas, the boat started up fine and pulled tubers for about five minutes but then the engine got sluggish and eventually quit. I tried to run the idle higher, using the accelerator arm to keep thrusting the engine to get back to the dock. I've now added STP fuel stabilizer to the tank. Any idea why the motor remains sluggish?

Hello. My name is Tan.

Have you checked/changed the fuel filters? The fuel you added to the tan does it have ethanol?

Adding fuel additives after the fact does nothing but add to the problem.
