I have a 2010 Formula 270 Bow rider with Mercrusier 8.2 Mag

Customer Question

I have a 2010 Formula 270 Bow rider with Mercrusier 8.2 Mag engine.
I have just been told it looks like I will have to change the exhaust system soon at a cost of around $12,000 (just pasts...).... and this needs to be done every 5/6 years...
I use the boat in Long Island Sound off Connecticut - so salt water.
This sounds rather extreme and I am very surprised I haven't heard about this before...
Is this common ???
Many thanks

Hello Robin. My name is Tan.

Yes in salt water applications.

The exhaust system has a life in saltwater applications. The risers are good for about 350-400 hours or 3.5 to 4 years of age. The manifolds are good for 500-600 hours of use or 5 to 6 years of age or which ever comes first for both.

Now the cost of the parts seem awful extreme. Could I get the engine serial number and I can get you a price of these parts.

I will get them and get back to you. Thank you. Seems a very short life expectancy .....

Ok. Salt water is very corrosive and then add heat.
