Hello. My name is Tan.
The clean plug is not firing or not getting fuel. Do you have a spark gap tester to check spark or a timing light?
Yes but is it consistently running on both. That won't tell you if you have a misfire. Is the spark constant to both plugs. You can't tell that unless you use a timing light.
I use a inductive timing light it doesn't require a battery.
Bad coil, bad switch box. What you do when you find the cylinder that is misfiring is swap that coil with the other cylinder does misfire move? If the misfire moves then that coil is bad. If misfire stays the switch box is bad.
The part both coils connect to. Just follow the wire coming from the coils.
Post your engine serial number and I can get part numbers for you.
In this diagram # 6 is the switch box. # 9 is the ignition coil. 1 is the stator and 4 is the trigger.http://www.marineengine.com/parts/mercury_marine_parts/sn/0D092246/1015201MD/496_70
