Customer Question

I have a 2007 Evinrude 60 HP on a pontoon boat. Runs great, sounds great, and starts great,,,,just one problem!!!!
When I shift to reverse, there ia a delay of a minute or two before it engages. No grinding or noise of any kind,,,,smooth, just delayed......What could cause this?

Hello. My name is Tan.

Remove the engine cover and check the shift linkage does it move when you shift? Is there any delay? The shift is strictly mechanical so there should be no delay.

If you see no delay disconnect the shift cable from the shift arm # ***** then shift by hand is there still a delay?
