Is there a way to bypass the button pushing system required

Customer Question

Is there a way to bypass the button pushing system required to raise the outdrive to where you can simply toggle like you do to lower the outdrive? I have an old 41 series and the down part works but not the up. I've tried a lot of stuff an am suspicious of the fact that the wires to the button already seem to have continuity.
