Customer Question

I just bought a 1995 stratos 278v with a 1995 Johnson 130 hp. It only runs 45 mph by myself. All other boats like mine are running at least fifty. What prop should I use or is there something wrong with my motor. It seems to run fine but it's hard to trim it without it breaking loose. Definitely can't throw a rooster tail.any suggestions

You shouldn't be throwing a roostertail. If you are the bow is too high and you are inefficient. When you are running wide open what is your full throttle rpm? How are you measuring the speed?

With the 21 pitch viper 5500-5700 rpms. Couldn't trim it up while taking off it would break loose. Seems like other boats like mine are running around mid 50's

I can't throw a rooster tail if I wanted to. E everyone tells me different stuff and no two guys have ever heard the same thing. Today a guy said I probably have a 25 inch shaft which would be to long for the boat. He also said I could take out rubber adjustments make it shorter. Other mechanics said never heard that. So frustrating
