I have a Mako with a 92 200hp 2 stroke engine. It will not

Customer Question

I have a Mako with a 92 200hp 2 stroke engine. It will not jump up on a plane quickly and will not go over 3200 rpm at full throttle. I drained the fuel/water separator and it was about 3/4 f ull of water. I drained the carbs and replaced the fuel/water separator filter and the same problem wont go over 3200 rpm. It idles fine and doesn't stall out. Any suggestions?

Hello. My name is Tan.

We need to start with a compression and spark test. The compression must be 90+ psi with no more than 10% difference between cylinders. The spark must jump a 7/16 " gap on a spark gap tester.

The engine can idle good and still have cylinders not getting spark or have low or no compression.

Do these checks and [post back with findings.

There are 2 more tests to be performed when running at full throttle. 1 squeeze the primer bulb,2 choke the engine. Does it run any better?
