I have a mercruise engine that starts up but will just shut

Customer Question

I have a mercruise engine that starts up but will just shut off shortly after. I know that the oil is creamey looking, which indicates a head gasket problem. My question is would this cause the engine to shut off like it does. I have not been around engines for a while and I just want to start in the right direction. I do know that the head gasket has to be replaced.

Hello my name is ***** ***** am I speaking with?

Which size engine do you have? Is this a 4, 6 or 8 cylinder?

When did the problem start?

Is the oil level extremely overfull, or does it show at the correct level on the dipstick, and just has some milkyness to it?
