I changed the water pump and housing ,worked great for twenty minutes, then quit spitting water and over heated. what am I missing ? Is there a thermostat?

There should be a thermostat in the intake manifold. See if you have a rubber hose going to the manifold. The thermostat should be in that housing.

Do you have a complete model number and serial number?
