We have a 20 hp mercury outboard 4strk that can't have much

Customer Question

We have a 20 hp mercury outboard 4strk that can't have much more that 50 hours running time on it and have developed a oil drip on the shop floor. Motor runs fine but is sort of oily just below motor housing. Is this a normal occurance? Could this be motor oil or some other as it doesn't seem to be using a whole lot of motor oil ?

Hello my name is ***** ***** am I speaking with?

The outboard as a whole uses 2 different types of oil. Engine oil. And gear lube.

Is the oil leaking down the side of the outboard, above the lower unit?

Hello, I noticed no rating has been put through yet. So I was checking in and seeing if you had any further questions on the issue. Please keep in mind the website charges you either way, they just don't credit me unless a rating is put through. If there was anything else feel free to ask.
