My 200 HP mercury outboard 2 cycle suddenly shot down on me

Customer Question

My 200 HP mercury outboard 2 cycle suddenly shot down on me while crusing. This happened to me after I replaced the outside water filter separator and failed to prime. I had to be towed because the engine wont start and after I tryed to start the oil alarm goes off. I checked the water filters separators they are full of gas and also I am getting spark to the plugs. Do you have any idea what coulod be wrong?

Hello my name is ***** ***** am I speaking with?

Is this engine EFI or Carb? There is a right way and a wrong way to check for spark, how specifically are you checking it?

Have you tried any starting fluid to see if it would hit on that?
