Hello. My name is Tan.

Yes the fuel pump can make noise if it is failing. Can you reach down and hold your hand on the pump with engine running? Does the pump feel like it is knocking?

The other thing that could be making the noise is the circulation pump # ***** Grab the pulley of the circulation pump and see if the pulley wobbles. This is the pulley in the center front of the engine up top. Does the pulley wobble?

Expert:  Tan replied 1 year ago.

The noise could be coming from the raw water pump # ***** just below the fuel pump. Both of these pumps will make noise from bearing and seal failure.

If you have a mechanics stethoscope you can locate where the sound is originating from.
