My console voltmeter on 1997 mercury 40 hp 2 stroke reads

Customer Question

My console voltmeter on 1997 mercury 40 hp 2 stroke reads 11.5v and none of my other gauges are working. Engine starts fine with a charged battery but suspect voltage regulator and/or rectifier problem.

Hello my name is ***** ***** I will assist you. As you correctly said the voltage regulator is the problem and would require to be replaced. If you can post me the serial number of the engine I can give you the correct part number to order it as it cannot be repaired.
