My 2004 Yamaha 115 hp set up for 3 months , I can start it . Runs until I got in water to excelerate , it dies! Can it be dirt or water in fuel ? Change will help ?

Hello, my name is***** you for allowing me to assist you today.
First thing that you need to do is to pull a sample of the fuel. Remove the filter cover on the engine, then hold a glass jar under it, use the primer bulb to pump fuel from the tank into the jar. Allow it to settle, is there more that one layer in the jar? Does it all look like gas?
