Customer Question

496 ho. 2 beeps per minute. Merc tool said IAC, TPS and low water pressure. Replaced ICA, TPS and water pressure sensor. Pressure still at only 1.7-1.9 psi. at idol. Replaced water pump pressure at idol jumped to 4+ psi 11, 12, at speed. Cruising along at 3500,4000 rpms.. then without rhyme or reason, pressure starts to drop, solid beep and cuts back as is fuel has been cut but fuel pressure stays above 40 psi. Pressure drops to as low as 1.2 psi then slowly builds back up, solid beep stops but returns to 2 beeps per min.

The symptoms you have are caused by a restriction in the hose from the drive to the transom. That hose can be squeezed by corrosion at the gimbal housing or at the area where the hose goes through the transom. A higher demand of water will lower water pressure at higher PM's.

Is this a part to be replaced or cleaned up? In other words, how do I fix this problem?

I pulled the drive today and there no corrosion on either the drive side or the motor side, pulled the thermostat looking housing thing to inspect. Very clean. What is next to try?
