We have a 17.5 alumacraft fishing boat. the radio in the boat will turn on, light up but we get no sound. What could be the matter?

the boat is a 2013

Make sure that the Mute button is not pressed. Then go into the menu of the radio and select the balance. Make sure that it is in the center. Do the same thing for Fade. If you only have 2 speakers and one of these two items is way off, you would not be sending a signal to the speakers.

What brand is the radio?Have you looked at the back of the speakers to see if they are still plugged in?How about the wiring on the back of the radio?

It is a Boss radio #MR1580DI.
the radio has worked in the past, but on this trip not sound at all.

Remove the face plate and check the connections for it for any signs of corrosion. They should be clean and bright brass.
