Customer Question

I have a Blue Water Boat with 4.3 L Mercruiser I/O motor.
One of my adult kids borrowed the boat and ruined the lift blower when trying to raise the boat. It sat inn the water for over a week while I was ordering a new lift motor.
During this time the battery went bad.
There was water in the floor of the engine compartment.
While hooking up the new battery, the terminal connection sparked and something inside the engine compartment flared up for a second.
I pulled the boat plug and drained the water (should have done this first).
Any thoughts on what might have shorted out? Solenoid, starter, alternator??
How can I check to see what is fried?

OKay. Do you also have a test light or voltmeter and know how to take basic voltage measurements?
