Joe, I have a 2003 SeaRay 275 with a Mercruiser 5.0 MPI

Customer Question

Hi Joe,
I have a 2003 SeaRay 275 with a Mercruiser 5.0 MPI fitted to a leg. I have sucked gravel into the entire calling system and of course it is overheating. How do I clear the cooling system?

Clearing the cooling system depends on how much sand(gravel) is in the the hoses. If the cooling hoses are full they must be removed one by one and smacked on the ground to loosen and empty the hose. The manifolds can be cleared by slowly forcing water from a garden hose adding more and more flow. Then, the engine the same way.
