2007 monster Kawasaki jet ski will run smoothly for up to 4500 rpm and acts like its going bette but suddenly acceleration cuts of and when you try to resume it lurches with instant power loss and then immediate power surge which creates a lurching effect.

Sounds to me like you're losing spark.
Could be just a bad lanyard switch. However, you should have this thing taken to a dealer so they can download the engine data and tell you what component is failing.
Otherwise you're going to just be guessing and with these newer skis that gets expensive fast.
I know nobody wants to hear the word dealer but that's how it goes now days.
