I have a old 1960 omc outboard, when I get it running it detonates

Customer Question

I have a old 1960 omc outboard, when I get it running it detonates bad, it may run smooth for 15 sec then starts popping, i was told it was the carburetor and it was loading up causing this, i was also told it may have a blown headgasket, i have a video of it running 5 min

Hello. My name is ***** ***** the carb is a lean fuel condition. Loading up is to much fuel and won't cause popping. When the engine starts popping choke it does the popping stop? Does it only pop at idle? Post the link to the video. Could I get the engine model number please?
