I have an 1985 Mariner 50hp, 4cyl, 2str. The water pump spurts

Customer Question

I have an 1985 Mariner 50hp, 4cyl, 2str. The water pump spurts water, is not an even flow and sometimes does not pump any water. Has new impeller, housing and gaskets. What could be the problem?

Hello, my name is***** you for allowing me to assist you today.
When you replaced the old impeller, was all of the blades intact?
How are you providing water to the engine?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
They were wore out, like weathered, don't think they were melted. I have used a tub of water and the ears.

When you had it on the hose, how was the water flow out of the prop?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
Steady, seemed like all the water was coming out of the prop
Expert:  Charles replied 2 years ago.
Ok,
Remove the hose from the block and start the engine, is the water flow better there or still hit and miss?
Is this a salt water motor?
Customer: replied 2 years ago.
