Ok we need to determine what is causing the alarm. Is the oil tank on the engine full of oil? If yes unplug the wires to the sensor in the tank does the alarm go off? If no then disconnect the temp switch on the cylinder head. Does the alarm go off?

could impeller or thermostat be defective ?

Ok If the float is not stuck then the sensor is bad causing the alarm to sound. Remove the sensor from the oil tank and check that the float moves freely. Plug the sensor in turn key on move the float up and down does the alarm go on and off?

No the engine isn't running and isn't hot.
