Hi, Dave it sounds like you are at least a bit handy so well look at a few things, starting simple and go from there. If there is a part you are not familiar with or don't understand something, let me know.
First of all make sure the battery cables and connections are tight. It's easy to get a little corrosion between the cable connection and the battery.
next make sure the control is in neutral and the gearcase is in neutral. Turn the prop by hand, it should freely spin.
next on top of the engine is the shift switch. This has a small micro switch that cuts some cylinders when shifting out of gear. Make sure it isn't depressed and there is no tension on the assembly from the control cables.
Next check the 50 amp circuit breaker, the red button. Push it in and see if the engine now cranks.
If still nothing check for a fuse/circuit breaker on the starter solenoid. Check for power going to the starter, a voltmeter or a 12 volt test light will suffice. If you have power on the main terminal but still no cranking then the problem may be in the neutral start circuit in the control.
Before we go further check these things and get back to me what you find, we'll then narrow our focus.
