You are fine with any TCW-3 certified oil, although I would recommend a premium grade of oil such as from a motor manufacturer. If you are pre-mixing use 50 to 1 ratio.
Without a little more information it is difficult for me to mae a diagnosis. Particularly on an intermittent problem.
If the spark plugs haven't been replaced recently do so.
When the engine quits does it pop? What kind of rpm are you turning? Is this in neutral or in gear?
