VerifiedHi my name is Charles, I will assist you today. These questions require some troubleshooting and several posts back and forth. I have a few questions.
1.The engine is on the small side for the boat. It is rated for a 175 max.
2. The engine is very reliable when maintained properly.(water pump, plugs, oil and lines)
3.For the inspection, check compression should be over 100PSI and fairly even. No more that 15% between all 4. Do a spark check should get a nice blue spark on all 4. Check the gear oil for water. Check the prop shaft to make sure that it is not bent.
These are the items that I would check before buying a boat.
