Today. first time in this year from launch site the overheat alarm came on.. I shut down after about 30 seconds and see lots of oil running down from where it shouldn't be... Sounds like you could have water in the oil

check the oil, if milky that is bad, if over filled the thermostat is stuck or the fuel pump is bad, you need to check those after the oil level and condition
Customer
Oil was clear..and was not overfilled... Let me further explain the problem.. I had winterized the motor ( changed oil, drained fuel ) last fall .. today when I put it back in the water for the first time, I started it, and ran it well for about 2 minutes..then the overheat alarm went on.. I slowed down, and checked if water was coming thru the cooling system . It was not. So then I shut it down and let it cool for a couple minutes, rthen restarted.. 1 minute after retartin, alarm came back on and I noticed oil runing down from from under motor cover.. I shut it back down, waited and tried again for a few seconds.. same situation repeated.. So my question is: What happened? Did the overheating blow or crack something? Yes I will check the thermostat and water pump, and they may be faulty.. but WHAT caused the blown oil ??? Did I cause a major catastrophy by running it overheated for 20-30 seconds ?? What is your diagnosis??. thanks
It could have overheated and caused something, but the oil would be milky

If the oil was overfilled then the fuelump could have failed
Customer
I am sorry, but it appears that no one is reading, or understanding my question...

Yes it did overheat.. No the oil is not milky... No the oil was not overfilled.

but YES oil is leaking out of someplace on motor head and running down in to the water...

What caused this to suddenly appear ? I had just launched the boat after it's over- the- winter storage... Obviously something happened to cause the leaking oil

Please advise various possibilities.. cracked head? ruined motor ? blown gaskets? Have you had any experience with this type thing before??
You need to do a compression test and find out if there is a problem in the head or pistons

then if ok you will need to do a leak down test this will tell you if you have a cracked block
Customer
Would overheating crack the block??? that's pretty unusual isn't it? This motor has very few hours on it, and has always been well maintained...
Yes it could, but you would have milky oil
Customer
Well if no milky oil. and no cracked block, and no overfilled oil, etc etc... what has caused the loss of oil ??? This motor ran fine last year when I put my pontoon in storage.. I launched it yesterday, started it up, and ran it no longer than one minute or so, the overheating happened , and the oil leakage happened... I don't have a clue.. do you??
It could be the fuel pump causing the oil, but the oil would be overfilled
