No. Sorry. The Evinrude 150 is a 90 degree crossflow and the 225 is a 90 degree looper. They are 2 different critters. I hope this helped. Thank you.
So what is the difference?
And which evinrude short shaft (20") will work with my powerhead?
Between the midsections or the powerheads?
Well I'm curious of why they won't work. I don't know what a looper is.
My engine is a 25" shaft and I'm looking to change it to a 20" My powerhead is brandnew so looking for options
The looper uses 1 carburetor for each cylinder the crossflow uses 1 carburetor with 2 seperate circuits for each cylinder.
Ok so the exaust won't work?
The drive shaft can be changed to a 20in but your best best is to find a blown parts motor to put your powerhead on.
Ok what size? Does it need to be a 225?
Or is there one of lesser hp usable?
No the looper base has more of a rectangle shape to it and the crossflow has more of a square shape.
so can I use any other housing or does it need to be a 225?
You can use the exhaust adapter off a 185 200-& 225 hp from 1988-1991. You can use the exhaust housing from a 120, 140 185 200 & 225 hp 1988- 1992
I'm lost. So I can use an entire 140 hp body with a 225 head?
No just the exhaust housing you will need to use a 200-225 exhaust adapter.
ok so I can mount my power head on any of the hp and years you listed with a 225 adapter?
Yes a 200-225 adapter 1988-1991
and they sell these adapters still?
So if I buy a 1898 185 hp evinrude my head will work if I buy an adapter?
It shows to be obsolete. The part number is 398779. You can probably find a good used one on Ebay. You can use the whole thing.
Ok what is my best bet?
If I cant find a 225 (20"0 blown engine
so I cant use an adapte for the 150 huh
Buy a 185hp or a 200hp. I'm sure 1 can be found easily. No sorry
ok thank you
