Mercury 90 hp outboard will not start, power is good. We changed

Resolved Question:

Mercury 90 hp outboard will not start, power is good. We changed the starter last season and we think it could be to wires to the throttle box

Gauges move, prop lifts, everything else is working
Expert:  Jeremy R. replied 6 years ago.
ok

well it could be..

bad key switch
bad nss switch in the control box
or bad starter
or bad starter relay
or a bad fuse

Ok find the starter solenoid on the motor
find the yellow/red wire on it
now you need to apply 12v positive to where that wires goes to the solenoid
if the starter turns over you either got
bad key switch, wire harness, or neutral safety switch

if it does not turn over, then the starter can be bad

#21 is the starter solenoid
