Hello! I have an 82 Evinrude 235 hp. I'm looking for the operating range on the RPM's (or the max RPM). The data plate on the engine has a gouge in in from installation or something, and i'm missing first few numbers on the model number, as well as can't make out the part that reads max HP 235 @ such and such RPM. Looks like there is another line that says what the operating range is.
Can you help? Finally have it running right, and want to make sure it's a the right RPM with the prop. It's hitting a hair over 5,000 right now with a 15"x17p prop with good hole-shot. I want to make sure that the RPM's aren't too high. Thanks!

5000-5500 is great for that motor

you want to fill the boat up to 80% of load and thats fuel included
then you go run it on flat water and trim out the motor
