Electrical issues and fuel issues are frequently similar. You should certainly replace the sensor wheel. That's an in expensive fix. Did you replace the small fuel filter in the front of the carb. That's often overlooked. I don't recall if you have an electric fuel pump on that particular engine, if you do, you should check the output pressure at idle, 1/2 speed, full speed. The pressure should be constant. Finally, if that doesn't cure your problem, then it's time to have the carb cleaned and rebuilt. Be sure to find a shop that has a hydrosonic carb cleaner, anything short of that is inferior. And lastly, start using an additive in your fuel like Starbrite Startron or Sta-Bil blue formula. The ethanol in the fuel is killing us!

I do not believe there was a filter in the fron of the carb but will double check, thanks for your help

It's hard to find if you don't know where it is. It is located at the fuel line junction right in front of the carb.

Check out this link of a typical carb. You'll see the filter clearly.
