I am running twin evinrude 200hp two-strokes, (1996 ocean pros).

The port motor is burning...
I am running twin evinrude 200hp two-strokes, (1996 ocean pros). The port motor is burning 7GPH at 3700rpm, while the starboard motor is burning 13GPH at the same rpms. I have new flowmeters and seperate fuel tanks to validate my claim. The starboard motor is running good with minimal carbon on the plugs. any ideas?

are the outboards connected individually / port outboard with port tank and starboard outboard with stb tank?

try running just one outboard and keep the other off, that do the same to the other .

Hello.. First I would swap flow sensors to opposite engine and recheck. You may have a sensor thats out of calibration or defective. If that checks out ok, decarbon both engines and retest. Also check that roller(#48) has not split and fell off. This will throw off your sync & link on the carbs. Check the sync & link, especially bottom carbs as linkage it is adjustable here. Also check carb throats for brass tube at 6 oclock position(see pic) If one engine has and the other does not you will need to install on engine that does not. These are metering tubes that richen up midrange fuel circuit by two jet sizes. If you need these reply back and will dig up the part number.

I hAVE SEPARATE fuel tanks and flow meters, so when I get back to the fuel dock and refuel I can tell how much each motor has burned. the flowmeters total consumption rate is correct, and I always have to put more fuel in the starboard motors tank.

Hello.. Is starboard engine a counter rotation model? Have you checked the items in my earlier post? Do you have to advance the starboard throttle lever a little more than port to get 3700rpm or vise versa?

yes, both motors are running solo on separate tanks, so I can tell my actual consumption for each motor.yes, the starboard motor is counterrotating, and I do have to advance the starboard throttle a little more to get 3700rpm.

Hello.. Check condition of the starboard prop as it may have dings or damage. Also have pitch checked as one blade could be off cause a less efficient prop. Also check the sync and link and roller as earlier posted.

no, the boat is in storage for the winter, wont be able to work on untill spring, just trying to collect info now.

Hello... If it is out of the water, now would be a good time to have props checked and trued,lower unit oils changed, compression tested and decarboned with Seafoam and spray engine tuner. Let us know the results. Thanks!!
