There is no such brake light reset. There is a physical brake pad wear sensor on the brake pad that communicates with the computer at all time.
If the brake pad wear sensor is tripped it will trigger the light.
I would advise you to bring it to a different shop that is familiar with BMW.
The brake pad warnings come on when the brake pad is approaching 35% usage.
45,000 miles is a reasonable mileage to change out the original brake pad.
